China has been the major supporter of TD-LTE, just one of two standards in use for fourth-generation network technology. The other is FDD-LTE (Frequency Division Duplex), which is being adopted by many overseas telecom operators.
The carrier's 4G technology would allow cellphone users to exchange data at faster speeds using China's domestically developed TD-LTE technology.
China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology began technical tests of TD-LTE since 2008.
After nearly six months of preparation, Guangdong 4G (TD-LTE) network has been successfully carried out the test, the Ministry approved the pilot city of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and plan to complete the first testing by the end of September,to complete all testing by the end of December .
